Rep. Demings Supports Firefighter Health Protections

Yesterday Rep. Val Demings (FL-10) voted to pass bipartisan legislation to ensure fair treatment and health care for federal firefighters.

Said Rep. Demings, "As a mother of firefighters, I am proud to vote for the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act to protect the health and safety of federal firefighters who are injured or sickened in the line of duty. They risk their lives for our safety, and we must answer the call when they need our help. I call on the Senate to act quickly to support our first responders."

Background

The Federal Firefighters Fairness Act of 2022 is bipartisan legislation to ensure support and medical benefits for federal firefighters who are injured in the line of duty. As fires nationwide continue to worsen due to climate change, America's firefighters are at heightened risk of injury and disease related to their jobs.
